Company Program

The structure of the ADC Teen Program allows each student to determine the time commitment they would like to make toward their dance education. For some students it is one or two classes a week. For others it is their main extracurricular activity. Classes are offered from beginner through company levels. Company classes are for students that successfully audition in to The Movement Project Performance Company.

2024-2025 Company Program

Company class dancers must successfully audition into the program in the spring. Highest level company dancers who have been a part of the program for 3 or more years will be recommended to the below classes when they are technically ready.

Students must have teacher recommendation. Skill level determines length of class.

Jazz

Jazz focuses on movement of the body through isolation, stretch, traveling & center combinations.  Different styles of jazz such as musical theatre and contemporary are explored. This class has a strong relationship to music and rhythm.

Musical Theatre Jazz Class

This jazz class will explore theatrical dancing that combines the songs of Broadway musicals with the movement of classic jazz styles. The elements of acting and storytelling are explored.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a style of movement characterized by bounces and rocks executed to hip hop music. This class will explore the African American historical/social roots so deeply tied to the culture of hip hop. Hip Hop dancers will learn the pillars of hip hop, the importance of a cypher and the basics through more advanced techniques of freestyle. Choreography will also be explored.

Modern

This class integrates traditional disciplines of modern (Graham, Horton) with the more contemporary styles. Students experience movements and techniques that are both unique and expressive. Emphasis is placed on ease of floorwork and improvisation is explored.

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary sheds the traditional techniques learned in other codified disciplines in favor of personal expression of movement. Improvisation is explored and current music and styles of movement are often used in class.

Technique Class

This 75 minute class focuses on the refinement of ballet technique. Students work on flexibility, alignment, musicality and the basics of turns and jumps. The use of correct vocabulary is stressed.
