What is Illuminate Downtown Ashland?

Founded in 2017 by studio director Chrissy Reynolds,  Illuminate Downtown Ashland is a community event that aims to shine a light on the important role art plays within a community. Annemarie's Dance Centre alongside the town of Ashland and Arts! Ashland Alliance partner local art and artists with community spaces both public and private.

What Does 2021 Look like?

Live audiences will be welcome back to the event spaces providing masks are worn. Park your car and experience Illuminate by foot. Annemarie's Dance Centre, The Corner Spot, Ashland Historical Society, Blush Bouquet, Needham Bank and Ashland Reiki & Wellness will host live performances and art works for the community to enjoy. Ashland High School Chorus, NATyA Dance Collective, The Drum Nomads,  Arreaux String Quartet, The Cardinal Joe Stillitano & The Movement Project Performance Company will occupy the spaces for a night of free performance and luminaries.

2021 Community Art Project

Community residents, students and members from various organizations are taking part in the 2021 community art project. This year's project is the Ojo de Dios. The "Ojo de Dios" or God's Eye is an ancient symbol made by the Huichol Indians of Mexico. They were woven on to crisscrossing sticks, joining in the center.  The center eye represented the sun and stood for the power of seeing and understanding things we normally cannot see. The ends of the sticks represented the basic elements–earth, water, wind, and fire. They accompany wishes of health, long life and protection. The Ojo de Dios created by the community will be displayed for their creators to find on Illuminate Downtown Ashland night.

Sponsorship opportunities

Free community events would not be possible without the support of the local businesses. Sponsoring this event means you care about the vital role that arts play in our communities and you understand these events bring our community closer together through our shared interests. Your donation of $150 or $200 will help bring additional artists to the event, provide us an opportunity to get more groups involved and create an atmosphere of magic through the purchase and creation of luminaries.
